Will Turner — Creator of Simplexity

Complexity
is a choice.
So is clarity.

Most leaders are drowning in complexity they created themselves. They don't know it's there. That's the problem Will Turner was born to solve.

Will Turner
Creator of Simplexity.

The discipline of finding the simple human truth inside any complex challenge — and using it to move people forward.

Your biggest problem
isn't lack of strategy.
It's too much of everything else.

The meeting that justifies itself. The strategy deck that explains the strategy deck. The process nobody questions because it's always been there.

This is unconscious complexity — the complexity leaders create beyond what the situation actually requires. It's invisible from the inside. And it's costing you more than you know.

The problem Will Turner named

Unconscious complexity is the complexity you created — and don't know you created.

Leaders don't mean to create it. It accumulates. Layer by layer. Decision by decision. Until the organisation is heavier than the problem it's trying to solve. The trouble is — when you're inside it, you can't see it. That's what makes it unconscious.

In the meeting room
The agenda has fourteen items. Three matter. Nobody says anything.
In the strategy
The slide that explains what the strategy means. Followed by the slide that explains that slide.
In leadership
The process that protects nobody but can't be questioned because it's always been there.

Will Turner mapping complexity — Noise, Truth, Action
The method
Separate the noise from the truth.
Then act.

What Will
Turner believes.

These aren't principles. They're the operating system. Every keynote, every coaching engagement, every page of the book runs on these ideas.

01
Simplicity is not the absence of complexity. It's the presence of clarity. The two are not opposites. One is the result of doing the work the other demands.
02
Most leaders don't have a thinking problem. They have a visibility problem. The simple truth is already there. They just can't see it yet.
03
Complexity is addictive. It signals effort. It performs intelligence. Leaders who create it don't do so carelessly — they do it confidently. That's what makes it so dangerous.
04
The penny drop is not a revelation. It's a recognition. The audience already knew. Will just shows them where to look — and they remember it forever.
05
The right idea, simply expressed, is unstoppable. Not because it's obvious. Because once seen, it cannot be unseen.
06
Every complex challenge has a simple human truth at its centre. Find that truth and you've already won. The Simplexity method is the discipline of finding it — every time.

The Simplexity
Matrix. Original IP.

Every leader starts somewhere on this matrix. The penny drop is the moment of crossing — from Fog to Focus, from invisible complexity to unmistakable clarity.

The Simplexity Matrix — four leadership states: Fog (unconscious complexity), Frozen (conscious complexity), Focus (conscious simplicity), Fluent (unconscious simplicity). The penny drop moves diagonally from Fog to Focus.

The Simplexity Method

How the penny
drop actually works.

Most speakers leave a room feeling inspired. The feeling fades by Monday. Will Turner leaves people with one specific action they intuitively know is right. That's different. It stays. It changes behaviour.

The penny drop isn't a technique. It's a moment of recognition — the instant the audience sees something they already knew, in a way they couldn't have articulated before Will showed them where to look.

"You are all about simplexity — making complex things simple. It is a real gift."
Helen — London, 2011 — 15 years before Will named it
01
Find the human moment.
Every business challenge has a universally human truth at its centre. Find that first — before anything else.
02
Use it to unlock the business truth.
The human moment is the bridge. Once the audience recognises themselves, the business answer becomes obvious. It was always there.
03
Create the penny drop.
The moment a room changes. Not revelation — recognition. They already knew it. Will shows them where to look. That's why it lands. That's why it lasts.
Leave them knowing exactly what to do next.
Not a list of actions. One thing. The right thing. Intuitive certainty — not inspiration.

Who is Will Turner

Will Turner is a keynote speaker, executive coach, trusted advisor, and author based in Brisbane, Australia. He created Simplexity — a discipline for finding the simple human truth inside any complex challenge. His concept of unconscious complexity — the complexity leaders create beyond what the situation requires, without knowing it — is the named problem at the centre of his body of work. His previous book won the Australian Business Book Awards 2023 in two categories. He holds an MBA with Distinction from London Business School.

Simplexity is a discipline created by Will Turner for finding the simple human truth inside any complex challenge — and using it to move people forward. It is built on a single insight: most complexity is unconscious. Leaders create it beyond what the situation actually requires, without knowing they are doing it. The framework is grounded in Kahneman's research on cognitive bias, Klotz & Nature (2021) on subtractive thinking, and Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety.

The cure is the penny drop — the moment unconscious complexity becomes visible and the simple truth becomes impossible to ignore. From that moment, you know exactly what to do next.

Will Turner engineers that moment. On stage, in coaching, in boardrooms. Every session. Every room. Every page.
